Post Office One-off International payments

  1. All international money transfers are done online or over the phone depending on the amount you need to transfer. You can transfer any amount from £250 to £300,000 safely and securely online. For payments over £20,000 you can use Post Office telephone service where a specialist team member will give you clear guidance and offer quotes tailored to your specific needs. Transfers under £20,000 must be made online.
  2. Post Office offer competitive rates. Post Office transfer your money and send you a confirmation of the transaction.
  3. Pay using a UK debit or credit card or electronic transfer. Post Office don’t charge you but your credit card company may charge 1.5%.

If you transfer more than £70,000 you must use electronic transfer such as CHAPS, BACS or telegraphic transfer.

Post Office Regular payments

Need to make the same payment every week or month? It could be easier for you to set up a Regular Payments Abroad contract.Where you can save time by paying by Direct Debit. The Post Office take a deposit as Post Office  buy the total amount of currency you need up-front. Post Office then use this for the final payment.

Post Office Fix the exchange rate

Fixing an exchange rate for your overseas money transfers can:

  • help you budget if you make regular payments – your payments won’t go up and down with currency fluctuations so you know the exact amount that will be taken each time
  • save you money – you can fix an exchange rate up to 12 months before making a payment, so if you think the pound is doing well against the currency you need, you could have more foreign currency if it gets stronger

Post Office Payment methods

For amounts from £250-£70,000 you can pay by credit or debit card (UK registered) or electronic transfer. If your amount is over £70,000 you can only pay by electronic transfer. When you need to transfer money to bank accounts abroad, look no further than International Payments from Post Office.

Funds can be used to fulfill the contractual obligations of our clients but will never be anywhere other than, in the segregated client accounts, with our banking counterparties or in transit i.e. being sent.
