The Currency

Croatian Kuna (HRK)

Since 1994 the Kuna has been the official currency of Croatia when it succeeded the transitional currency, the Dinar.

The Kuna is subdivided into 100 lipa, the coins can be found in denominations of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50 and are interestingly issued in two versions depending on what year they were minted.

Coins that were minted on an odd year have the name of plant or animal displayed in Croatian, whereas coins minted on an even year have the name in Latin.

Currency Export regulations:

Up to the value of HRK 15,000.-.

Foreign currencies: unlimited.

Currency Import regulations:

Up to the value of HRK 15,000.-.

Foreign currencies: up to the value of EUR 3,000.- without bank receipt. For higher amounts, passenger must be in possession of Croatian National Bank Receipt.
