The Currency

Lithuanian Litas - (LTL)

The Lithuanian currency follows a similar path to the latvian Lats, first introduced in 1922 and then replaced briefly by the Soviet Ruble and then re-introduced in 1993.

Up until the Euro was launched in 2002, the Litas was pegged to the USD, but since then it has stayed linked to the Euro at a rate of 3.45 Litas to 1 Euro.

Currency Export regulations:

  1. No restrictions if arriving from or traveling to another E.U. country.

  2. If arriving from or traveling to a country outside the E.U.: amounts exceeding EUR 10,000.- or the equivalent in another currency (incl. banker's draft and cheques of any kind) must be declared.

Currency Import regulations:

Same as export.
