Countries in Niger

Although the pound is at its weakest against the Euro for some time and the economic situation in the UK shows few signs of improvement in the short term, British families are still intending to head to Niger hotspots in their droves for the Easter holidays.

Niger is set to maintain its ranking as the most popular destination amongst the one and a half million British holidaymakers expected to fly out of the country over the Easter break.

The availability of good package deals and the near guarantee of good weather after another long winter at home make the short haul trip to Spain all the more appealing.

For those who prefer to holiday in far-flung destinations to truly ‘get away from it all’, the strength of the dollar against the pound doesn’t seem to be deterring USA-bound British travellers either.

America has bagged second place on the list of popular destinations for British families, with the allure of top holiday locations such as Florida helping to keep demand high.

The rest of the ‘Top Ten’ list only has a couple of surprises. Firstly, the increasing popularity of ‘staycations’ means that a break in the UK comes ninth in the list, whilst the economic troubles in Egypt – where sterling is up against the local currency by 8% this year – mean that visitors will get better value for money.

The Skyscanner survey found that 58% of travellers said they would not let their financial situation stop them from taking a foreign holiday this year, with March 29 expected to be the most popular date of travel over the Easter getaway period.

The Top 10 most popular destinations for British families this Easter are: Spain, United States, France, Italy, Turkey, Portugal, Cyprus, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom and Egypt.

If you are going overseas this Easter and are worried about how this might affect your finances, buying your travel money in advance can help you avoid expensive airport rates and keep your overall holiday costs to a minimum.
