Currency Export regulations:

Local currency (Ukrainian Hryvnia-UAH): Residents: up to UAH 170.-; Non-residents: up to UAH 85.-. foreign currencies: Residents:

  • up to USD 3,000.-, in cash or equivalent in other foreign currency or in traveller's cheques;

  • up to USD 4,000.-, or equivalent in other foreign currency, which was withdrawn from a hard currency account with permission from an authorized bank; and

  • up to USD 4,000.-, or equivalent in other foreign currency or in traveller's cheques with permission of an authorized bank.

Non-residents:

  • up to USD 1,000.-, in cash or equivalent in other foreign currency; and

  • up to USD 1,000.-, or equivalent in other foreign currency, which was withdrawn from a hard currency account with permission of an authorized bank;

  • up to USD 5,000.-, or equivalent in other foreign currency or in traveller's cheques with permission of an authorized bank. In addition residents and non-residents can export all foreign currency declared upon arrival in the Customs Declaration. Any higher amount requires a license from the National Bank of the Ukraine.

Additional information: It is allowed to export jubilee and memorable coins of Ukraine made of non-precious metals:

  • up to 12 coins if value is in former Ukrainian Karbovanetz; and

  • up to 5 coins if value is in Ukrainian Hryvnia; and

  • 2 silver coins.

Currency Import regulations:

Local currency (Ukrainian Hryvnia-UAH): up to the amount declared on the Ukrainian exit customs declaration. foreign currencies: up to USD 10,000.-, or equivalent in other foreign currency. Passengers must fill in customs declaration upon entry if holding the amount of USD 1,000.-, and higher. Failure to comply will result in legal consequences; from USD 10,000.-, to USD 50,000.-, or equivalent in other foreign currencies. Residents must hold proof of origin, non-residents must hold proof of import and purpose. Any higher amount requires express permission from the National Bank of the Ukraine.
